Newfoundland offers some of the best moose hunting experiences in Eastern Canada, home to a thriving population of Eastern Canada moose. With the highest density of moose in North America, the island’s vast wilderness provides an ideal setting for hunting, featuring diverse landscapes that range from dense boreal forests to open bogs and rugged hills. Hunters from around the world are drawn to Newfoundland moose hunting.

Newfoundland Moose Hunting Opportunities

Newfoundland moose hunting season typically runs from early September to late December, providing hunters with various opportunities to encounter mature bulls in different phases of the season. The early season offers a chance to hunt during the rut when bulls are actively seeking cows, while the late season provides a prime time to track moose in snow-covered landscapes.

Trophy Eastern Canada Moose

The Eastern Canadian moose in Newfoundland are known for their impressive size, with mature bulls often sporting antlers that can span over 40 inches. The island’s unique genetics and nutrient-rich environment contribute to strong antler development and body mass, making Newfoundland a top destination for trophy moose hunters.

Sustainable hunting practices are a key focus in Newfoundland, with strict tag quotas and hunting regulations in place to ensure a healthy and thriving moose population for future generations. Outfitters work closely with wildlife authorities to monitor population numbers and maintain the balance of the ecosystem.

My hunt was absolutely top notch.

The outfitter is a fantastic man and incredibly hard working and knowledgeable, there is no doubt he will do everything within his power to make peoples hunts successful and enjoyable. I plan to do it again with him next year for sure.

Our hunt was excellent.

We saw bucks every day along with all other sorts of wildlife. Mountain goats, bears, and foxes were common sights. Fishing and crabbing was special bonus. The food was excellent, the crew was amazing. Outdoors International did a great job of finding exactly what we were looking for.

What an amazing experience!

The hunting lodge was out of this world!, Rooms, food and the scenery were all A+. Our guide was exceptional and had us on Shiras moose all five days. We saw over 30 total with at least 10 bulls. They had a plan for everything including taxidermy and game processing.
