Wyoming Backcountry Elk Hunts

Wyoming elk hunting continues to be some of the best in the country, and our wyoming backcountry elk hunts are no exception! If you’re not applying for elk in Wyoming, you’re missing out. However, if you’re itching to go, our backcountry outfitter has solid success year over year on good bulls at an affordable price. And you need few to even no points on some years.

You’ll be hunting elk out of a primitive camp located at around 8,000 feet in the steep, rugged country.

You’ll get up, eat breakfast, and then use horses to get to the ridges an hour or so before daylight. At that point, you’ll tie up the horses and hunt all day, returning to your horses in the evening. Upon returning to camp in the evening, the guides will take care of the horses, and there will be a hot, all-you-can-eat dinner ready shortly after dark. The better shape you’re in, the more you’ll enjoy this elk hunt.

This was exactly the type of elk hunt that I was after. A backcountry horseback archery elk hunt.

  2. Erin Lilienthal

This was a really challenging elk hunt, but my guide put me on bull elk every day. He was so helpful understanding my limitations and getting me on a real nice bull on my first backcountry hunt!
