A British Columbia mountain goat hunt gives you a very realistic chance to take a record book billy. That said, we are NOT selling this as a hunt for a record mountain goat, but you can expect mature, good representatives and an unforgettable mountain hunting experience. Arguably the best thing about BC is there is little to no hunting pressure, because it’s super remote and difficult to access. This creates a secluded area which provides an exclusive hunting area.
BC mountain goats have huge bodies, with most mature billies weighing over 300 pounds. The average billie measures over 9 1/4 inches. These goats live in mountains that receive cold weather and snowfall as early as July and August, so BC is known for its long-haired billies.
WE ONLY WORK WITH GREAT OUTFITTERS
The British Columbia Mountain goat hunt outfitters that we work with have been thoroughly vetted and have a reputation for taking giant billies every year.
If you are researching where to hunt for a trophy mountain goat with an amazing coat, you need look no further than a BC. Mountain goat hunting in British Columbia is arguably the best in the world. Beautiful BC has roughly 50,000 goats, and the most record book entries by far. Including the P&Y and B&C world record mountain goats. A trophy billie is in reach for those who can get to them and shoot straight.
Mountain Goat Hunting in British Columbia is where it’s at for big billies!
Record book, 10 inch billies are common on these hunts, and our hunters consistently take goats scoring over 50 inches B&C.
We have hunting guides and outfitters in BC who produce multiple record book goats every year. They would harvest more record billies, but the fact is that most hunters are happy to shoot the first mature billy they get a chance at. British Columbia’s north coast along the border of Alaska is world renowned for having the highest number of trophy mountain goats in North America.
The average trophy on our British Columbia mountain goat hunt measures 9 1/4 to 9 3/4 inches, and for context a ten inch billy is an absolute monster. Many of the billies will live out their lives without ever seeing a human.

- These hunts are typically remote, tent camp hunts, but we do have a rare “town hunt”.
- This hunt has had 100% opportunity on hunts including archery, since the outfitter purchased the area in 2017.
Our primary outfitter for our Northern BC British Columbia hunts offers two primary options: horseback hunts and traditional backpack hunts. Each option provides a unique experience.

- You and your guide will hike into the hunting territory and set up a lightweight tent camp.
- From camp, you’ll spend a lot of time glassing the surrounding ranges until you find a trophy billy in a stalkable position.

Chris Springmeyer –
The trip was challenging, beautiful, exciting and pretty much everything I’d thought/hoped a mountain goat hunt would be. Hope my son can try it in a couple of years.
