HUNT: Alaska Unguided Caribou Hunt

This DIY Alaska caribou hunt was all we could hope for. Day 1 was spent setting up camp and glassing. Day 2 was spent glassing…could see I would guess a mile in all directions. Saw a few caribou…nothing close. Day 3 more hiking…glassing saw a few more caribou. Day 4 saw at least 50 caribou…they can really cover ground.
Day 5 we both shoot our caribou…awesome experience. Spent the balance of that day and part of the next packing meat and antlers back to camp. We flew out out of the bush on day 7. We saw a few grizzly…they stayed away…all was well. Saw a few ptarmigan too!

We saw bucks every day along with all other sorts of wildlife. Mountain goats, bears, and foxes were common sights. Fishing and crabbing was special bonus. The food was excellent, the crew was amazing. Outdoors International did a great job of finding exactly what we were looking for.

The hunting lodge was out of this world!, Rooms, food and the scenery were all A+. Our guide was exceptional and had us on Shiras moose all five days. We saw over 30 total with at least 10 bulls. They had a plan for everything including taxidermy and game processing.
