New Zealand fly fishing trips are among the most spectacular and challenging in the world. Backcountry New Zealand fly fishing trips are incredible. Explore the pristine beech forest, rivers, and towering peaks of New Zealand while you sight cast to big trout. It’s more like “Trout Hunting” than fishing.
This outfitter helps you create an authentic, custom fishing itinerary that matches your budget. There is so much to see, do and experience in New Zealand, and your time is short, so too often your vacation turns into rushed tours of the top 10 sights. This trip isn’t like that at all. It’s about experiencing a true, unique connection with the land, people and culture while fly fishing along the way.
New Zealand isn’t for the novice fisherman, but if you have some experience you’ll love it!
Although, we don’t recommend New Zealand fly fishing trips for novice fishermen. These fish are big, old and spooky, and on top of that, there aren’t a ton of them. If you are a good caster, and you’re ready to sight fish to big, hard to catch trout, this is the trip for you.
A trip to Arkansas is a great affordable destination to bring a son or daughter who is a beginner at fly-fishing or for the advanced angler looking to target a truly once in a lifetime Brown trout. The White River is arguably the best brown trout fishery in the US with fish averaging 18-22” and many fish caught each year over 10 pounds!
I had an incredible time fishing in Arkansas! Clint our guide was excellent and seemed to always know what fly to tie on and where to fish. I would recommend this trip to a beginner or experienced fly angler. I caught my biggest brown trout on this trip!
The southern end of the Patagonia region close to El Calafate is one of the most unforgiving and inhospitable areas I’ve ever visited in my fishing career. Dry, windy, barren and all around tough conditions make it a much uninhabited area with the exception of sheep ranches and GIANT rainbow trout!
My fishing partner Patrick Walsh, Editor and Chief of Outdoor Canada Magazine and I had what can only be described as an epic week landing somewhere between 500 and 600 lake trout ranging between 8 and 30 lbs with our fly rods and setting 5 Line Class World Records in the process.
This area is a fly fisherman’s dream…here is just part of my journal from a recent trip to Chilean Patagonia.
