Hunting Method
You’ll typically be hunting from turrets and elevated stands pre-scouted areas where deer are known to frequent. Timing plays a crucial role in roe deer hunting, and the early morning and late afternoon are often considered prime times. During these periods, animals tend to be more active, increasing the chances of a successful hunt. However, hunting can still be carried out throughout the day, depending on the specific game and local regulations.
In some cases, if waiting in a turret or elevated stand proves unsuccessful, you may resort to small stalks. This involves actively moving through the hunting area in search of game, often combining knowledge of the best hunting areas with stealth and patience.
There is always the potential for a black roe buck when you’re roe deer hunting in Germany.
Safari Club International (SCI) approved the black roe deer as a subspecies of European roe deer – Capreolus capreolus in 2015. It means trophies of black roe deer measured after the rules of SCI will become registered at their own chapter in future record books.
