Unfortunately, there is no spring bear season in Colorado, nor can you hunt with hounds or over bait. With that said, the state has good numbers of black bears, and spot-and-stalk bear hunts are a ton of fun.
Expect to do a lot of glassing to locate bears as they forage. On a typical hunt you’ll see a wide range of colored black bears, everything from black to cinnamon, and in more recent years, lighter blonde colored bears have been spotted as well. Since there is no spring season, Colorado isn’t a top destination for bear hunting. However, that can be to your advantage because these hunts can be surprisingly affordable.
