This Patagonia-Chile fly fishing luxury camp offers unspoiled access to the 40 plus mile section of the Rio Blanco and its spring creeks. The Rio Blanco is not fished during the main summer months, as this river is largely glacial fed and turns white with glacial silt from run off. The warm air melts the glacier causing high water and a poor water clarity.

This section of the Rio Blanco is very under fished and few have had the luxury of experiencing the incredible fishing. The river offers endless holding water for large trout. The Rio Blanco is primarily a brown trout fishery with fish averaging 18”-22” but also harbors some good-sized rainbow trout. This river is inaccessible to most due to the dangerous rapids above and below the Base Camp. Our outfitter has exclusive access to this fishery.

Where do I begin? This was a trip of a lifetime. Phenomenal accommodations at the lodge, great people and excellent fishing. The Blanco camp, which was only accessible by horseback and then a boat ride was out of this world. The fishing was the best I have ever seen and the camp was far more luxurious than one would imagine at such a remote location. 13/10 would recommend.

  2. Gregory Schneider

Fishing was amazing since we were the only people on the entire section of river. I loved my first trip to Chile and I know I will be back again!

  3. Patrick Kissel

This is undoubtedly one of the last truly remote fisheries and I am lucky to have been able to fish here and to be able to offer and share this trip with you.

  4. Ryan Ersland

This was my first trip to South America and it totally surpassed my expectations. Huge brown trout and rainbows. I definitely plan on doing this trip again in the future.

There's a reason I keep booking this steelhead fishing trip!
Second time I’ve done this particular trip. The steelhead run was awesome! The food was even better than the first time, which is hard to imagine, and our guide is the best there is! If catching big fish is your thing I highly recommend booking through Outdoors International.

Greg Pope with a Strobel Lake rainbow trout.

I expected big trout on this trip based on all the stories I've read over the years, and I was not disappointed! I broke my own personal best rainbow trout record at least SIX times on this trip, with the biggest being a 16 pound beauty.

I will be going again soon!
