Pronghorn Antelope Hunts

Experience the Thrill of Guided Pronghorn Antelope Hunts with Outdoors International

Whether you dream of stalking these incredibly fast animals across the open plains of Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, or other prime antelope states, we help you plan a memorable and successful hunt at no extra cost compared to booking direct with an outfitter.

Vetted Outfitters

We’ve been on these hunts ourselves and they have our stamp of approval. Outdoors International can help you stack the odds in your favor for a more successful pronghorn antelope hunt.

The antelope hunt you book needs to be in an area and/or with an outfitter that would satisfy your trophy quality expectations, while also fitting your physical condition level and your budget. That's what our service is all about. Let us know if you'd like to schedule a pronghorn antelope hunting consultation.

A Unique, Fun, and Affordable Hunt

Not only is an antelope hunt a fraction of what you’d pay for most other big game hunts, you’re virtually assured the opportunity of seeing lots of game. We offer great pronghorn antelope hunts, but for true trophy bucks, you need to hunt certain areas. If you’re wanting a trophy buck (who isn’t?), your best chance is in Arizona, New Mexico or Wyoming, but don't sleep on our Colorado antelope hunts. Just be sure to contact us so we can steer you towards a good, vetted outfitter.

Pronghorn Antelope Hunting Tips and Information

The pronghorn (Antilocapra americana) is a species of artiodactyl mammal indigenous to interior western and central North America. Though not an antelope, it is often known colloquially in North America as the American antelope, prong buck, pronghorn antelope, prairie antelope, or simply antelope because it closely resembles the true antelopes of the Old World and fills a similar ecological niche due to parallel evolution.

Pronghorn are renowned for their exceptional eyesight and blistering speed, making them a challenging and rewarding trophy. Hunts typically involve extensive glassing and careful spot-and-stalk approaches in open sagebrush country, rolling hills, and grasslands. Decoying during the rut can also be an effective and exciting tactic. Our consultants understand the nuances of Pronghorn behavior, preferred habitat, and the best times and locations to hunt them.

They can run 55 MPH for up to half a mile, but can maintain a speed of 35 MPH for up to four miles. That means they can be four miles away in about seven minutes if they feel threatened. Their large windpipe, heart and lungs enable them to breathe in large amounts of air while they are running. They go under fences, not over them. Their extremely large eyes give them a 320 degree field of view.

Antelope Hunting Strategies

Our outfitter partners are experts in various Pronghorn hunting techniques:

  • Spot and Stalk: The classic method, utilizing quality optics to locate animals and plan a careful approach.
  • Decoying: Particularly effective during the rut (late August through September) to bring curious or territorial bucks into range.
  • Waterhole Sits: In more arid regions, ambushing Pronghorn at water sources can be productive, especially for archery hunters.

Trophy Quality  and Hunting Seasons

Outdoors International works with outfitters known for producing quality bucks. Pronghorn seasons typically run from late summer into the fall, with specific dates varying by state and weapon type (archery, rifle, muzzleloader). We can help you navigate tag applications and season choices.

Our team of professional consultants are ready to help you research, book and plan an amazing trip with one of our amazing outfitter partners around the world.

I didn't think an experience like this was possible.

This trip, was, for me at least not just a trip, for me it was a real adventure, a real experience. I love the wilderness and this trip afforded me the opportunity to connect with the Alaskan wilderness in ways very few people do. It was an experience I will never forgot in a place I can’t wait to get back to.

The outfitter handled everything perfectly.

We were thankful that Outdoors International hooked us up with a great outfitter because they were able to find us an acceptable alternate on short notice. Overall the two year process to get this float in was seamless and worry free. Just like it should be.

Thank you, Stan Masneri
