Kudu Hunts

Kudu Hunts

Before booking your safari to do a kudu hunt, it is essential to familiarize yourself with this remarkable species. The kudu, scientifically known as Tragelaphus strepsiceros, is a large antelope native to the savannas and woodlands of Southern and Eastern Africa. Renowned for its impressive spiraled horns, the kudu stands as a symbol of grace and magnificence in the African wildlife.

The male kudu, known as a bull, boasts an awe-inspiring set of twisted horns that can reach lengths of up to 60 inches. These majestic spirals serve as a testament to the bull's age, vitality, and genetic superiority. The female kudu, referred to as a cow, possesses no horns but exhibits a sleek and elegant physique. With their russet-brown coat adorned with white stripes, kudus perfectly blend into their natural habitat, making them both elusive and captivating.

Kudu Habitat and Behavior

Kudus thrive in a diverse range of habitats, including woodland savannas, bushlands, and mountainous regions. Their remarkable adaptability allows them to navigate various landscapes, from dense forests to open plains. These herbivores primarily feed on leaves, fruits, and grasses, utilizing their long necks to reach foliage at different heights.

Kudus are predominantly crepuscular, meaning they are most active during the early morning and late afternoon hours. During the heat of the day, they seek shade and rest in the coolness of the African bush. These elusive creatures are known for their remarkable agility and their ability to blend seamlessly into their surroundings, making them a challenging prey for hunters.

I didn't think an experience like this was possible.

This trip, was, for me at least not just a trip, for me it was a real adventure, a real experience. I love the wilderness and this trip afforded me the opportunity to connect with the Alaskan wilderness in ways very few people do. It was an experience I will never forgot in a place I can’t wait to get back to.

The outfitter handled everything perfectly.

We were thankful that Outdoors International hooked us up with a great outfitter because they were able to find us an acceptable alternate on short notice. Overall the two year process to get this float in was seamless and worry free. Just like it should be.

Thank you, Stan Masneri
