Specialized Consultation: Legally Sanctioned Arctic Walrus Hunting Expeditions

Outdoors International provides expert consultation for a wide range of unique and challenging hunting adventures across the globe. We understand that some experienced international hunters may have an interest in highly specialized and regulated Arctic hunts, including those for Atlantic Walrus in legally designated areas of Canada, primarily Nunavut, conducted under strict quotas with experienced Inuit guides.

It is crucial for U.S. citizens to understand the following:

• The U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA) generally prohibits the hunting of walrus by non-Alaska Natives in U.S. waters. It also stringently regulates the importation of marine mammal products.
• While legally sanctioned walrus hunts for non-Canadian residents are available in parts of Arctic Canada, guided by Inuit communities, current U.S. regulations do NOT permit the importation of walrus trophies (including tusks) taken in these Canadian hunts by U.S. citizens.
• Any walrus hunt undertaken is a significant Arctic expedition, occurring in a remote and challenging environment, and is managed with a focus on sustainability and benefit to local indigenous communities.

Given these significant legal and import restrictions for U.S. citizens, Outdoors International focuses on connecting hunters with opportunities where trophy importation is permissible and the hunt aligns with all applicable U.S. and international laws, as well as ethical and conservation principles. We do not facilitate activities that would contravene the MMPA or CITES regulations regarding U.S. importations.

For hunters from countries where the importation of legally hunted Canadian walrus trophies may be permitted, or for U.S. citizens interested in the experience of an Arctic hunt with the understanding that trophy importation is not possible, Outdoors International can provide discreet and expert consultation. We will explore any potential, fully compliant, and ethically sound opportunities with our meticulously vetted partners in the Arctic. This includes thorough verification of all current regulations, permit requirements, and the specific nature of the hunt.

Due to the highly specialized nature, stringent regulations, and critical import restrictions for U.S. citizens, we do not list walrus hunts as a standard offering.
