Overview

New Mexico Unit 34 is a sought-after destination for hunters seeking an exhilarating elk hunting experience. Nestled in the eastern part of the state, this unit boasts diverse landscapes that include rugged mountains, rolling hills, and lush valleys, making it an ideal habitat for elk. The area's elevation ranges from 6,000 to 9,000 feet, providing a variety of ecosystems that support a healthy elk population.

Hunters are drawn to Unit 34 for its impressive bull-to-cow ratio and the opportunity to encounter trophy elk. The rut, which occurs in September, is a prime time for hunting in this unit, as the bulls are active and vocal, making it easier to locate them. Utilizing calling techniques and strategic spot-and-stalk methods can lead to successful encounters with these magnificent animals.

New Mexico Hunting Seasons in Unit 34

Unit 34 offers various hunting seasons, including archery, muzzleloader, and rifle, allowing hunters to choose their preferred method of pursuit. The early archery season is particularly popular, as it coincides with the rut, offering hunters a unique chance to engage with vocal bulls.

I didn't think an experience like this was possible.

This trip, was, for me at least not just a trip, for me it was a real adventure, a real experience. I love the wilderness and this trip afforded me the opportunity to connect with the Alaskan wilderness in ways very few people do. It was an experience I will never forgot in a place I can’t wait to get back to.

The outfitter handled everything perfectly.

We were thankful that Outdoors International hooked us up with a great outfitter because they were able to find us an acceptable alternate on short notice. Overall the two year process to get this float in was seamless and worry free. Just like it should be.

Thank you, Stan Masneri

The lodge was out of this world! Our rooms, the delicious food, the incredible wildlife and the scenery were amazing. Our photo safari guide was truly exceptional and had us on animals almost constantly. We saw over 30 different species and had some incredible up close experiences. Africa is amazing!
