Adventure Travel: Ghana offers rich adventure travel focused on ecotourism and cultural immersion. Key attractions include national parks like Mole (savanna wildlife viewing, elephant tracking) and Kakum (rainforest canopy walkway). Visitors can hike mountains like Mt. Afadja (Ghana's highest peak), visit waterfalls (Wli, Kintampo, Tagbo), explore the vast Lake Volta by boat, or canoe through the Okefenokee-like wetlands of Amansuri. Coastal areas provide beaches and opportunities for relaxation or exploring historic slave castles like Cape Coast and Elmina (UNESCO sites). Cultural experiences include visiting craft villages (kente, adinkra, beads), Kumasi's Kejetia Market, and engaging with local communities, perhaps via monkey sanctuaries like Boabeng-Fiema. Activities like ATV riding, rock climbing, and river cruises are also available.

Wingshooting: Information on organized wingshooting for sport is less prominent than in some other regions. While traditional hunting occurs, and species like guinea fowl, francolin, and doves exist, structured wingshooting outfitters catering to international clients may be limited. Hunting regulations (Wildlife Conservation Regulations L.I. 685 and amendments) are in place, managed by the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission, including closed seasons (typically Aug 1 - Dec 1 for many species) and licensing requirements for any hunting or trade in bushmeat.

Fishing: Ghana possesses significant fishing resources, both freshwater and saltwater. Lake Volta, one of the world's largest man-made lakes, is a major fishery supporting catches of tilapia, Nile perch, catfish, and tigerfish. River fishing also occurs. Along the Atlantic coast, artisanal fishing is vital, landing various marine species. Opportunities for sport fishing exist, including targeting freshwater species on Lake Volta and emerging big game fishing offshore for species like Blue Marlin.

Big Game Hunting: Big game hunting in Ghana is strictly regulated by the Wildlife Division under conservation laws. While historically diverse, many species are now fully protected or have significant hunting restrictions (closed seasons, protection of young). National Parks like Mole are primarily for wildlife viewing, not hunting. Legal hunting opportunities for international hunters may be very limited and likely confined to specific non-endangered species (like grasscutter) or potentially certain antelope species in designated hunting areas or community reserves outside national parks, requiring specific licenses and permits. Bushmeat hunting/trade requires licenses. Emphasis is strongly placed on conservation and adherence to regulations.

I didn't think an experience like this was possible.

This trip, was, for me at least not just a trip, for me it was a real adventure, a real experience. I love the wilderness and this trip afforded me the opportunity to connect with the Alaskan wilderness in ways very few people do. It was an experience I will never forgot in a place I can’t wait to get back to.

The outfitter handled everything perfectly.

We were thankful that Outdoors International hooked us up with a great outfitter because they were able to find us an acceptable alternate on short notice. Overall the two year process to get this float in was seamless and worry free. Just like it should be.

Thank you,

What an amazing experience!

The lodge was out of this world! Our rooms, the delicious food, the incredible wildlife and the scenery were amazing. Our photo safari guide was truly exceptional and had us on animals almost constantly. We saw over 30 different species and had some incredible up close experiences. Africa is amazing!
