My friend Dave and I booked through Outdoors International for a guided elk hunt after our state draws proved unsuccessful. Kyle Hanson set us up with an outfitter hunting elk on Colorado public land.
Colorado is famous for its quantity AND quality of pronghorn antelope. This state is consistently producing record-class animals. Our Colorado ranches are managed for amazing hunting, and our antelope hunters have had an incredible 100% opportunity rate on trophy bucks!
It was a fly fishing, camping and white water rafting trip all in one. In an amazing place and we were very well taken care of buy the guides. The food was exceptional for the place it was prepared. I would recommend this trip to anyone with an adventurous heart.
I was treated like a king this entire trip and I am excited to come back with a group and show them what fishing these rivers is all about!
I will admit that there are better tacticians and callers than myself, but I hold my own. Positioning, playing the wind, approach, not calling, calling aggressive, cow calling, bugling, and on and on…all these are critical when you are chasing love sick bull elk.
Archery hunting for Pronghorn in a blind can be arduous, but the quantity of mule deer and antelope arriving to the watering hole does break the tedium. Being very selective allowed me to arrow a Pope and Young buck on the third evening of a three day hunt with 15 minutes left of shooting light.
