Roosevelt Sable Hunting

Roosevelt Sable Hunts

Outdoors International offers some exceptional opportunities to hunt Roosevelt sable, one of the most sought-after and elusive antelopes in Africa. As experienced hunters and conservationists, we believe that ethical hunting can contribute to wildlife management and local communities' development. Therefore, we invite you to join us on a memorable safari adventure and discover the thrill of pursuing a majestic game species in its natural habitat.

Physical Characteristics

The Roosevelt sable (Hippotragus niger roosevelti) is a subspecies of the common sable antelope, native to the dense woodlands and savannas of Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi. Unlike other sable subspecies, which have black or brown coats, the Roosevelt sable has a striking silver-gray coat with a distinctive black face, legs, and belly. The mature males, known as bulls, have impressive curved horns that can measure up to 50 inches in length and weigh up to 40 pounds.

Roosevelt sable are diurnal animals, meaning that they are active during the day and rest at night. They are mainly browsers, feeding on leaves, fruits, and flowers of various trees and shrubs. They can travel long distances to find food and water, and they have excellent senses of sight, hearing, and smell, which make them challenging to approach and hunt.

Roosevelt sable hunting: A responsible and sustainable practice

Our PH's work closely with local communities and conservation authorities to ensure that hunting revenues contribute to wildlife management and conservation projects, as well as to social and economic development programs that benefit the people living in the surrounding areas. We believe that responsible hunting can help prevent poaching, illegal logging, and other forms of habitat destruction, which pose a greater threat to wildlife and biodiversity.

I didn't think an experience like this was possible.

This trip, was, for me at least not just a trip, for me it was a real adventure, a real experience. I love the wilderness and this trip afforded me the opportunity to connect with the Alaskan wilderness in ways very few people do. It was an experience I will never forgot in a place I can’t wait to get back to.

The outfitter handled everything perfectly.

We were thankful that Outdoors International hooked us up with a great outfitter because they were able to find us an acceptable alternate on short notice. Overall the two year process to get this float in was seamless and worry free. Just like it should be.

Thank you, Stan Masneri
