Patrick Kissel

I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin. Living in the country I learned how to fish and hunt in our backyard and grew to love the outdoors.

After high school I went to college at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. While there I gained a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management and wrestled. I competed all four years at the varsity level for Purdue. In that time I hunted and fished as much as possible, most of the area rivers were stained and polluted but had decent smallmouth bass, walleye, and carp populations to chase with a fly. There were many times I would drive 3 hours north to fish the salmon/steelhead runs on Lake Michigan tributaries then drive three hours back to make class or practice the following day. My friend’s thought I was crazy and gave me a lot of grief for missing a party or get together, they just didn’t understand my addiction.

After college I drove to Colorado and began guiding on the South Platte River while living out of my jeep and just being a “trout bum” for a couple years.

I lived and breathed fishing and that’s all I did. I met a lot of really great people this way and learned a lot about fishing and guiding during my time working for South Platte Fly Shop. Next I took a job guiding in Alaska on the famed Kenai River and was fortunate to work with one of the best trout outfitters in my opinion on the river. Billy at Alaska Troutfitters and the crew taught me a lot about Alaska fishing and trout fishing in general. I have also guided for Bristol Bay Lodge in western Alaska and still guide in the summers. I just can’t give up the lifestyle just yet! I still bounce around and travel as much as possible but have settled more permanently in Alaska.

I enjoy fishing and hunting in new places and learning the area.

Each year I do multiple fishing and hunting trips with my brother, family and friends. Read about my adventures.

I am your guy to talk to about fishing destinations.

Each year I spend time researching and visiting new locations and outfitters for the benefit of my clients. These are the trips I look forward to most often each year and this is what life is about! This is why I have chosen a path that allows me to work in the outdoor industry and be outside as much as possible.

I host multiple trips per year and love that aspect of my job as I get to meet many of my clients this way. I truly enjoy what I do, and would love to meet you out in the field. Similar to guiding, hosting trips allows me to be present with my clients and ensure they are having a great trip. I really enjoy playing a part in someone’s vacation, knowing I helped them have an experience of a lifetime and put a smile on there face is very rewarding to me.

Whether it’s a once in a lifetime trip or you are a well traveled individual feel free to call me to talk about any of our fishing trips or for advice on anything fishing. I am here to help!
