Fishing Adventures
Sitka is one of Alaska’s top fishing destinations, attracting anglers from around the world. The nutrient-rich waters of the Pacific Ocean and nearby rivers provide a prime habitat for salmon, halibut, lingcod, and rockfish. Both saltwater and freshwater fishing options are abundant, with chartered fishing trips available for those looking to reel in trophy-sized catches. Local guides have extensive knowledge of the best fishing spots, ensuring an unforgettable angling experience.

Sitka’s hiking trails wind through old-growth rainforests, along rocky shorelines, and up mountains offering breathtaking panoramic views. The Indian River Trail is a local favorite, leading hikers through lush forest landscapes to a stunning waterfall. The Mount Verstovia Trail provides a more challenging trek with rewarding views of Sitka Sound and its surrounding islands.

Whale Watching and Marine Tours
Sitka is one of Alaska’s premier whale-watching destinations. The waters of Sitka Sound are teeming with humpback whales, orcas, porpoises, and sea lions. Marine tours also offer the chance to see seabird colonies, remote islands, and breathtaking coastal scenery.
History and Culture
Sitka’s rich history sets it apart from other Alaskan towns. It was once the capital of Russian America, and remnants of that era can still be seen today. The Sitka National Historical Park is home to totem poles and historical sites that tell the story of the Tlingit people and their interactions with Russian settlers. The Russian Bishop’s House and St. Michael’s Cathedral are iconic landmarks that offer a glimpse into the town’s fascinating past.
Hunting and Foraging
Hunters visiting Sitka will find opportunities to pursue Sitka black-tailed deer, waterfowl, and black bears. The dense forests and steep terrain present a challenging hunt, but the reward of harvesting wild game in such a remote, scenic environment is unparalleled. Foragers can also find wild berries like salmon berries and blueberries, as well as edible mushrooms scattered throughout the forest.

I didn't think an experience like this was possible.
This trip, was, for me at least not just a trip, for me it was a real adventure, a real experience. I love the wilderness and this trip afforded me the opportunity to connect with the Alaskan wilderness in ways very few people do. It was an experience I will never forgot in a place I can’t wait to get back to.
