An exquisite Western getaway on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, The Middle Fork Lodge’s 80 private acres are nestled inside Idaho’s Frank Church Wilderness, the largest contiguous area of protected wilderness – 2.3 million acres -- in the continental United States.

Since 1963, Middle Fork Lodge has been providing professionally guided hunts within the heart of the 2.3 million acres of the Frank Church Wilderness, “River of No Return Wilderness”. Accessible by backcountry plane or horseback, we operate in a remote and rugged wilderness area of 400 square miles, protected by law, as the only outfitter licensed to hunt within this area.
Middle Fork Lodge’s hunting philosophy is to provide the best hunting opportunity possible by booking a very restrictive number of hunting clients annually amongst a vast hunting area. We also have camps spread throughout our large operating area allowing us to minimize hunting pressure in any one location, which also gives us the mobility to move hunters as hunting conditions dictate or change. Our vast wilderness hunting area combined with limiting the number of booked hunters, give us the unique opportunity to provide quality hunts.
Your hosts, Mark and Kristin Troy, live year-round in the wilderness which provides us with the unique knowledge and opportunity to offer a variety of exciting hunts throughout the year. We understand that these hunts are an investment in both time and money, and Middle Fork Lodge’s philosophy strives to provide the very best quality hunts for our clients and all operations.
Reviews and trip reports by our clients are taken very seriously. We ask every client who goes on a trip with one of our outfitters to submit a report after their trip, telling us how it went.

Our hunt was excellent.
We saw bucks every day along with all other sorts of wildlife. Mountain goats, bears, and foxes were common sights. Fishing and crabbing was special bonus. The food was excellent, the crew was amazing. Outdoors International did a great job of finding exactly what we were looking for.

What an amazing experience!
The hunting lodge was out of this world!, Rooms, food and the scenery were all A+. Our guide was exceptional and had us on Shiras moose all five days. We saw over 30 total with at least 10 bulls. They had a plan for everything including taxidermy and game processing.
