The trip was great. The lodge, the guide, the food, the staff – all wonderful. The fishing was not as great as we hoped although good. Very tough conditions, more physical, and not as many fish as we or the other guests expected. The fish are as big as advertised however.
We caught so many 10-12lbs in fact that we stopped taking pictures after a day or so. We had tons of doubles and even a few triples. We had a handful of 30 fish days and one day where we caught 40 if we caught one. There isn’t anywhere on the planet that fishes like Strobel Lake.
The experience of sight fishing the unbelievable numbers of huge rainbows is beyond compare. I’ll be back!
I can almost guarantee you a 15-pound rainbow with chances at 20-pounders!!!
As we said our goodbyes at the airport I couldn’t help but think of the number of friends I couldn’t wait to send a few photos to once I got back into cell service. My brother was first on the list; I really just wanted to make him jealous!
Great outfitter, well informed kept me in the loop the entire time, laid out great plans. Was a wonderful outfitter!
Our host, Patrick Kissel is one of the nicest, hardest working, knowledgeable people I’ve been around.
This fishing trip in Argentina was hands down the best trip I’ve ever been on. Absolutely amazing. Great fishing and better people. I will do it again.
The southern end of the Patagonia region close to El Calafate is one of the most unforgiving and inhospitable areas I’ve ever visited in my fishing career. Dry, windy, barren and all around tough conditions make it a much uninhabited area with the exception of sheep ranches and GIANT rainbow trout!
