Serengeti’s Crown by Dave LaMure Jr.
Celebrate the Vast Ecosystem of Africa’s Endless Plains With This Museum Quality Bronze Vessel.
The Serengeti is a vast ecosystem in east-central Africa. It spans 12,000 square miles, derived from the Maasai language that means “endless plains.” It is famous for its annual great migrations of millions of animals. There are more than 300 species of mammals and 500 species of birds in the Serengeti.
Throughout history the vessel has the symbol and function of abundance, something carried, stored or held. I look at my bronze vessels seeing the story inside and out. It’s that feeling of some unearthed, ancient relic with the bronze looking flexible, pliable, malleable and impressionable at times. This reliquary carries the power and presents of connections to life, being altered by life’s experience. The intangible space inside my vessel is sacred space.

I listen to the connections with others, stories, emotions, imagination, inspirations and life. This is symbolic of the leather teachers hanging in the center of my vessels. I’ve created these pieces in the timeless bronze vessel, to be a source of providence contained and gathered, an ongoing prayer …I am the dreamer. My vessels collect the Dream!
