Arizona Unit 20A

Arizona Unit 20A, located just north of Phoenix, is a versatile hunting unit known for its diverse terrain and abundant wildlife. The unit features a mix of desert landscapes, grasslands, and rugged mountain ranges, offering excellent opportunities for hunting mule deer, javelina, and mountain lions. The area is also popular for its proximity to urban centers while still providing a remote, wild hunting experience.

Unit 20A has low elk densities, and low population levels. These elk can be very transient, and may also wander into adjacent units. Unit 20A is currently managed to maintain a limited number of elk far below the carrying capacity of the unit and to minimize conflicts on private land. Unit 20A is combined with several other units in one of the “Multi-Unit” Limited Opportunity elk hunts. This gives hunters the opportunity to hunt different units due to the nomadic nature of the elk populations. Check the current regulations to see which other units are combined with Unit 20A and reference the notes associated with the Limited Opportunity hunts. These elk hunts can be challenging, even for hunters familiar with the area. Pre-season scouting is highly encouraged.

Hunters in Unit 20A can expect to use glassing and spot-and-stalk tactics to navigate the open terrain and rugged hills. With its easy access and varied game, Arizona Unit 20A is an ideal destination for hunters looking for a productive yet challenging experience.

The hunting lodge was out of this world!, Rooms, food and the scenery were all A+. Our guide was exceptional and had us on Shiras moose all five days. We saw over 30 total with at least 10 bulls. They had a plan for everything including taxidermy and game processing.
