Big Game Hunting in Nebraska
Nebraska has five huntable big game species, plus wild turkeys. You can hunt whitetail deer, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, elk and bighorn sheep.
Both whitetail and mule deer provide annual hunting opportunities for most residents and nonresidents who wish to hunt.
Pronghorn and elk populations in the northwest corner of the state offer more limited, but consistent hunting opportunities.
Bighorn sheep offer great viewing opportunities, and in some years, limited hunting.
Whitetail and Mule Deer Hunting in Nebraska
Nebraska deer hunting permits are over-the-counter with no draw required, and permits are cheap when compared to other states. Another good thing about hunting in Nebraska is that you can hunt whitetails and/or mule deer, and you can take two deer per season.
