How to Tie a Loop Knot

If you’ve ever had your fly ride upside down or tilt sideways, the Loop Knot (AKA Krey Knot) will fix that. With this great knot, your fly will almost always ride upright in the water, hook point down. Fishing a dry dropper setup?  Double Dries? Same deal. Easy fix.

Loop Knot Tying Instructions:

How to tie a loop knot

  1. Make an overhand knot in the line about 10 inches from the end.
  2. Pass the tag end through the hook eye and back through the loop of the overhand knot.
  3. Wrap the tag end around the standing part 5 or 6 times. Bring tag end back through overhand knot, entering from same side it exited from before.
  4. Moisten he knot then pull slowly on the tag end to cinch the wraps loosely together. Then pull the loop and the standing line in opposite directions to seat the knot. Trim tag end.
