  • Fly fishing the White River in Arkansas is truly something special. It is quite possibly the best brown trout fishery in the entire United States.
  • Species include: Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Bonneville Cutthroat, Finespot Cutthroat, and Brook Trout.
  • Year-round fly fishing.
  • Late November through early March – Streamer fishing is the best option.
  • March through May – Caddis flies begin to hatch. This is an excellent time of year for both novice and experienced anglers to catch not only lots of fish but trophy fish as well on dries and nymph imitations.
  • June through September – The most exciting fly fishing is from June through September, as there are LOTS of terrestrial insects. Grasshoppers, cicadas, beetles, dragonflies and even tarantulas become important food sources for trout and they concentrate along the banks. Sometimes Chernobyl Ants can work well.
  • Affordable destination to bring a son or daughter who is a beginner at fly-fishing, or for the advanced angler looking to target a truly once in a lifetime brown trout.

The White River in Arkansas is a truly world class fishery like few others anywhere in the world. Offering spectacular fly fishing for four species of trout: Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Bonneville Cutthroat, Finespot Cutthroat, and Brook Trout.

Every year anglers from around the world travel to go fly fishing the White River in Arkansas.

Initially, the White River in Arkansas was a popular smallmouth bass fishery. But when the dams were built in the 1950’s it became a cold-water habitat. Obviously this hurt the smallmouth population and they started to decline. To pacify the smallmouth anglers, they stocked it with trout and the results were amazing. Almost immediately monster brown trout started being caught out of the White River. Today the White River is still world famous for its trophy German Browns.

I had an incredible time fishing in Arkansas! Clint our guide was excellent and seemed to always know what fly to tie on and where to fish. I would recommend this trip to a beginner or experienced fly angler. I caught my biggest brown trout on this trip!

  3. Wayne Swann

This is a great fishing trip! Good fishing with hard fighting browns, rainbows, and cutthroats in the midst of beautiful country.

  4. Brody Johnson

Great trip. Clint works very hard and gets excited about big fish. I had a couple big ones get off …one on each day. The last day I caught this one the last trip up the river. My Dad caught a real nice brown trout as well on the next to last trip..lol. Crazy.

  5. James Murphy

In three days we caught more than 150 fish with the last two being nice browns that were the largest. The guide was so helpful when we were trying to boat the fish. What a way to end a trip our last two cast being the largest fish for both of us.
