Our Australia Water Buffalo Hunt is Top Notch

This this seven day, trophy water buffalo hunting adventure takes place in Northern Territory, Australia. This vast area, particularly the Top End region, offers abundant opportunities for water buffalo hunting. The dry season, typically between May and October, is ideal as the buffalo tend to congregate around water sources, making them easier to locate.

This is the perfect opportunity to take a trophy water buffalo of a lifetime.

The outfitters that we work with have exclusive access to large amounts of outstanding water buffalo habitat, so they are able to keep the hunting pressure very low. Most of these hunting areas have very good road access, which allows us to cater to hunters with a wide range of abilities. As a result, our hunters have very high success rates on walk-and-stalk water buffalo hunts. These ideal conditions allow hunters to be very selective and only harvest mature buffalo bulls.

The Hunt

You’ll hunt until you take a good, trophy water buffalo, then you can add on a second trophy buffalo, hunt scrub bulls and there are also plenty of wild pigs, dogs, brumbies and donkeys to keep things exciting.

Recommended Calibers

We recommend that our hunters use a rifle chambered in .375 H&H or .375 Ruger at the minimum. The .416 Rigby, .458 Winchester, and .458 Lott are also excellent cartridges for Water Buffalo Hunting. If you’re a bowhunter, we suggest you set up just as you would for archery hunting cape buffalo. Typical shooting ranges are 50-100 yards.

Many hunters choose to make their Australia water buffalo hunt a banteng combo.

Typically, you’ll start this hunt at the water buffalo camp, then move. The banteng hunting camp is about a seven hour drive from Darwin. If you wish we can organize an air charter for you. You’ll usually need about three hunting days for hunting a trophy banteng bull this area. Once you’re done, you can also add a banteng cow and a Sambar stag on a trophy fee basis.

Our hunt was excellent.

We saw bucks every day along with all other sorts of wildlife. Mountain goats, bears, and foxes were common sights. Fishing and crabbing was special bonus. The food was excellent, the crew was amazing. Outdoors International did a great job of finding exactly what we were looking for.

What an amazing experience!

The hunting lodge was out of this world!, Rooms, food and the scenery were all A+. Our guide was exceptional and had us on Shiras moose all five days. We saw over 30 total with at least 10 bulls. They had a plan for everything including taxidermy and game processing.
