Budget Archery Pronghorn Antelope
Have you ever wanted to hunt Pronghorn? Are you an archer or rifleman? Does it matter to you? We offer both as well as muzzle-loader and in multiple states. New Mexico has landowner tags, Wyoming is a draw with a special license option, Idaho is a draw, Colorado has Over The Counter (OTC) Archery or draw on rifle/muzzle loader.
In September 2017 I was fortunate enough to be able to hunt with one of our tested outfitters for speed goats with my bow on the plains of south central Colorado just east of the Spanish peaks. On this particular hunt I was at the end of the archery season in late September so I had the rut stacked against me, but I made the best of it by connecting with a two-year old after 30 hours in the blind. And although I still had 2.5 days left to hunt, any the option of any sex; all the mature animals were locked up in harems so I decided to take any buck over two and I did.
So when is the best time to go?
With the opener in Mid-August, it can be great to be there over water because of the heat but there can be storms that leave water everywhere and it’s very hot in the blind… so maybe early September is better before the rut begins and the bucks hold the does from water. Keep in mind muzzle-loader and or rifle seasons start after Archery from late September into October but is a draw or Land Owner Tags only.
I had a great time, saw tons of big bucks, put 40 pounds of meat in the freezer and enjoyed myself thoroughly but this next year I am putting in for the same unit with a rifle tag draw. With all the bucks we saw and the pretty private ranches; I can’t help but want to come back for more!
If you want help finding the right hunt, just ask; we can offer private or public land, guaranteed tags, draw options strategies or OTC archery that range from archery to rifle starting at less than $2,000! Have fun and hunt one of the most iconic western American animals and for a real value!
