At the 2007 Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association (IOGA) Sportsman’s Show in Boise, I was anonymously entered in the elk calling contest. I didn’t have any of my calls with me, so I bought a diaphragm elk call one from the booth across the isle from us. I sheepishly went out to my Jeep to practice for a few minutes, and luckily the new elk call fit me. I’ve always been good with a diaphragm so with a lite bit of practice and I was able to make all of the elk sounds I needed to. It wasn’t perfect, but I figured at least I wouldn’t be embarrassed.
I was the last one in the contest up and I was nervous, but after it was all over I had won the adult division and I’m the new Idaho state elk calling champion! Wow. Check out my new buckle.
Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association
The Idaho Outfitters and Guides Association is a non-profit business trade association. It represents the majority of the state’s full time licensed outfitters and guides. Members primarily are small, independently owned businesses offering guided hunting, fishing, river running, trail riding, hiking, biking, climbing, skiing, snowmobiling, and guest ranch trips.
IOGA members continue to be standard-setters for the industry. They are licensed and bonded and must meet high standards of safety and professionalism. They are committed to serving their clients while also conserving Idaho’s land, water, and wildlife.
